Day 21 - Floors AND Walls!

From my observations on this construction job, it seems to me that there is a direct correlation between the amount of Spanish spoken and the speediness of results.

Exhibit A: Day 1 ... lots of Spanish speaking folks working = all cabinets, walls, & ceiling gone in a 24 hour period.

Exhibit B: Day 15-19 ... zero Spanish speaking folks = 5 days to lay the floor.

Exhibit C: Day 20 ... Spanish speaking folks + a mere 6 hours = walls and ceiling installed

And now we are waiting for paint ... I mean mud to dry. Doesn't help that it's raining cats and dogs outside. Maybe by mid this week we'll have paint on the walls :)

Across town, Mom and Dad's kitchen is catching up with us (did you guys know this was a race?). Word on the street is that their cabinets have jumped ahead of us in line at the painting station ... because I still have to pick a color for the island. It's not my fault it's taking so long ... I took 3 weeks to get the color samples. Oh well ... first one to finish owes the other one dinner!!

Half a floor in ...

Half a floor not in ...

And this shows where the wood path from the entry room to the kitchen will be shaped (everything to the left of the blue tape lines will be hardwood.
